Positive solution branches of two-species competition model in open advective environments

چکیده

The effect of competition is an important topic in spatial ecology. This paper deals with a general two-species system open advective and inhomogeneous environments. At first, the critical values on interspecific coefficients are established, which determine stability semi-trivial steady states. Secondly, by analyzing nonexistence coexistence states using theory monotone dynamical system, we find that competitive exclusion principle holds if one large other certain range. Thirdly, terms these values, structure direction bifurcating branches positive equilibria arising from two given means bifurcation analysis. Finally, show multiple occurs under regimes.

A Two - Species Competition Model

We consider a two-type stochastic competition model on the integer lattice Z. The model describes the space evolution of two “species” competing for territory along their boundaries. Each site of the space may contain only one representative (also referred to as a particle) of either type. The spread mechanism for both species is the same: each particle produces offspring independently of other...

Evolution of dispersal in closed advective environments.

We study a two-species competition model in a closed advective environment, where individuals are exposed to unidirectional flow (advection) but no individuals are lost through the boundary. The two species have the same growth and advection rates but different random dispersal rates. The linear stability analysis of the semi-trivial steady state suggests that, in contrast to the case without a...

Competition and species packing in patchy environments.

In models of competition in which space is treated as a continuum, and population size as continuous, there are no limits to the number of species that can coexist. For a finite number of sites, N, the results are different. The answer will, of course, depend on the model used to ask the question. In the Tilman-May-Nowak ordinary differential equation model, the number of species is asymptotica...

Asymmetric spreading in highly advective, disordered environments

Spreading of bacteria in a highly advective, disordered environment is examined. Predictions of super-diffusive spreading for a simplified reaction-diffusion equation are tested. Concentration profiles display anomalous growth and super-diffusive spreading. A perturbation analysis yields a crossover time between diffusive and super-diffusive behavior. The time’s dependence on the convection vel...
